About The Event

The need for self-care is at an all-time high as the pandemic has disrupted so much in our lives.  For people working in the nonprofit sector who are on the frontline of the daily struggles we now face, this is of critical concern.  But, who is talking about caring about the place the nonprofits have and the value they bring to the City of Brotherly Love? In this session, we’ll have a conversation about how to take care of ourselves, as well as a frank conversation about whose responsibility it is to make sure that nonprofits in Philadelphia are cared for as well.

During this session, we will discuss the importance of:

1.  Taking Care of Ourselves:

Discuss the importance of self-care/trauma-informed self-care:  A conversation giving both examples from our own experiences and tips/strategies/best practices.

2. Taking Care of the Nonprofit Sector in Philadelphia

Discuss the issue of taking care of the nonprofits in Philadelphia, where we will use some of the same best practices from the first segment on self-care to frame the sector as a whole and discuss whose responsibility it is and how to help care for nonprofits.  Also, what does a “healthy” nonprofit sector look like?  Items to include: trust-based philanthropy, trauma-informed care, DEI efforts (real ones! Not just paying lip service), advocacy. These will all touch on issues raised during the New Frontiers in Philanthropy session.

3.  Q&A open conversation/discussion

Also, include opportunities to discuss funding for self-care and organizational care
